Regular Season Round 29: Mersin - Pertevniyal 90-80

Bottom-ranked Mersin managed to get a seventh victory. This time they won against seventeenth-ranked Pertevniyal in Akdeniz 90-80. It looked good early as Pertevniyal took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Mersin had a 30-16 second period charge getting the lead and Pertevniyal was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 80-90. American point guard Keddric Mays (183-84) stepped up and scored 22 points and 6 assists for the winners and American-Lebanese swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Alfrie Kelley (183-85, college: S.Carolina) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 assists and Burak Can Yildizli (202-94) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Five Mersin and four Pertevniyal players scored in double figures. Pertevniyal's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mersin maintains eighteenth place with 7-22 record. Pertevniyal at the other side dropped to the sixteenth position with 21 games lost. They share it with I.T.U.. Mersin will play against higher ranked Yesilgiresun (#7) in Giresun in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pertevniyal will play at home against Meliksah (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
