No shocking result in a game when second ranked Zalgiris (30-4) crushed on the road bottom-ranked Mazeikiai (3-32) 96-65. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Mazeikiai's 34 and made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Mazeikiai 40-29 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Zalgiris brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Mazeikiai was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international Paulius Jankunas (205-84) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and international center Arturas Gudaitis (208-93) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Raimundas Danys (198-85, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Tyler Olander (208-92, college: Connecticut, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zalgiris have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 30-4 record behind leader Lietuvos rytas. Mazeikiai lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 32 lost games. Zalgiris will play against Tonybet (#10) in Prienai in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mazeikiai will have a break next round.
