Regular Season Round 27: Istanbul BSB - Tofas 85-78

Rather expected game when 15th ranked Tofas (8-19) lost on the road to twelfth ranked Istanbul BSB (12-15) 85-78. It looked good early as Tofas took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Istanbul BSB had a 25-13 second period charge getting the lead and Tofas was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 78-85. Istanbul BSB players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Slovenian Sasha Vujacic (201-84, agency: Interperformances) who scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Swedish-Croatian forward Damir Markota (209-85, agency: XL Basketball Agency) chipped in 21 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Nigerian power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Lance Harris (195-84, college: Kansas St.) added 16 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tofas' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Istanbul BSB maintains twelfth place with 12-15 record. Tofas lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 19 games lost. Istanbul BSB's next round opponent will be higher ranked Karsiyaka (#4) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tofas will play against TED Kolejliler (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
