Regular Season Round 31: Ratiopharm - ALBA 66-80

Leader ALBA Berlin delivered the twenty sixth victory on Sunday night. This time they beat 5th ranked ratiopharm Ulm (19-12) 80-66. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when ALBA Berlin's pressure prevailed and they won that period 25-15 extending their advantage to 14 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to ratiopharm Ulm's 26. It was a great evening for American swingman Reggie Redding (196-88, college: Villanova) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import point guard Alex Renfroe (190-86, college: Belmont, agency: Beo Basket) helped adding 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Will Clyburn (201-90, college: Iowa St.) responded with 6 points and 10 rebounds and American-Montenegrin guard Brion Rush (186-84, college: Grambling St., agency: Three Eye Sports) scored 15 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. ALBA Berlin have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 26-4 record. ratiopharm Ulm lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 12 games lost. ALBA Berlin will meet at home Crailsheim Merlins (#17) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. ratiopharm Ulm will play against TBB Trier (#18) and hope to secure a win.
