Regular Season Round 31: Telekom Bsk - Walter Tigers 89-80

There was no surprise in Bonn where 16th ranked Walter Tigers (9-22) were defeated by fourth ranked Telekom Baskets (21-10) 89-80 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-80. Walter Tigers were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Lithuanian forward Tadas Klimavicius (204-82) fired 22 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!) for the winners. American-Italian forward Angelo Caloiaro (205-89, college: USF) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Telekom Baskets players scored in double figures. American forward Augustine Rubit (201-89, college: S.Alabama) produced 24 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and Serbian guard Branislav Ratkovica (192-85, agency: Beo Basket) added 7 points and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Telekom Baskets have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 21-10 record. Walter Tigers lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 22 games lost. Telekom Baskets will face higher ranked Bayern Muenchen (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Walter Tigers will play against Mitteldeutscher BC (#12) and hope to win that game.
