Date: April 24, 2015
No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked EWE Baskets (18-14) beat 13th ranked Phoenix Hagen (11-21) in Oldenburg 74-56 on Friday. EWE Baskets made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. EWE Baskets outrebounded Phoenix Hagen 51-36 including 19 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by Serbian power forward Nemanja Aleksandrov (210-87) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and American swingman Rickey Paulding (196-82, college: Missouri) supported him with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Four EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. Even 7 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists by American forward Larry Gordon (196-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona) did not help to save the game for Phoenix Hagen. His fellow American import power forward Dino Gregory (201-89, college: Maryland, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 9 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. EWE Baskets maintains seventh position with 18-14 record. EWE Baskets will meet BBC Bayreuth (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Phoenix Hagen will play against Telekom Baskets and hope to secure a win.
