Sixteenth-ranked Istanbul DSI (9-23) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Sakarya BSB (24-8). The visitors from Sakaraya managed to secure only three-point victory 81-78. However their fans expected much easier game. Istanbul DSI was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Sakarya BSB made 22-of-26 charity shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Istanbul DSI was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Franklin Hassell (203-88, college: ODU) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Yigitcan Turna (187-87) who added 10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Five Sakarya BSB players scored in double figures. Sakarya BSB's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Surinamese-Dutch guard Charlon Kloof (190-90, college: St.Bonaventure) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and guard Barkin Haluk Cinar (193-83) scored 18 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Newly promoted Sakarya BSB maintains second position with 24-8 record behind leader Denizli, which they share with Balikesir. Istanbul DSI lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth place with 23 games lost. They share the position with I.T.U.. Sakarya BSB will play against Adanaspor (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Istanbul DSI will play against Mersin (#18) in Akdeniz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
