A very close game took place in Petkim between ITU Istanbul and Socar Petkim. Seventeenth ranked ITU Istanbul (9-23) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Socar Petkim (15-17). ITU Istanbul managed to escape with a 1-point win 81-80 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. Socar Petkim was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The winners were led by American forward Marshall Moses (198-89, college: Oklahoma St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Ozgur Sahin (190-93) supported him with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) did not help to save the game for Socar Petkim. American-DR Congolese center Bambale Osby (203-86, college: Maryland, agency: Octagon Europe) added 21 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Socar Petkim's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. ITU Istanbul moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Istanbul DSI. Newly promoted Socar Petkim keeps the tenth position with 17 games lost. ITU Istanbul will meet at home higher ranked Yesilgiresun (#6) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Socar Petkim will play against Mamak DSI (#14) in Ankara and hope to secure a win.
