Regular Season Round 33: Ratiopharm - Brose Bask. 88-95

There was no surprise when 5th ranked ratiopharm Ulm (20-13) was defeated at home by second ranked Brose Baskets (27-5) 95-88 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 26-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Brose Baskets made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. International Daniel Theis (204-92, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners and Latvian point guard Janis Strelnieks (191-89) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American forward Will Clyburn (201-90, college: Iowa St.) with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Slovenian guard Jaka Klobucar (198-87) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Five Brose Baskets and four ratiopharm Ulm players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brose Baskets have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with ALBA. Loser ratiopharm Ulm dropped to the sixth place with 13 games lost. Brose Baskets will face BBC Bayreuth (#16) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. ratiopharm Ulm will play against Telekom Baskets (#4) in Bonn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
