There was no surprise when 16th ranked Tofas (8-21) was defeated on the road by thirteenth ranked Usak (12-17) 80-75 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-12. But Tofas won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tofas was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Eric Buckner (208-90, college: Georgia St., agency: David Lee services) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Sam Young (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Lamar Patterson (196-91, college: Pittsburgh) produced 20 points and 5 assists and guard Lance Harris (195-84, college: Kansas St.) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Tofas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Usak moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Torku Konyaspor and Istanbul BSB. Tofas lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 21 games lost. Usak will face higher ranked Karsiyaka (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tofas will play against Banvit BK (#6) and hope to win that game.
