Regular Season Round 1: Heidelberg - Gotha 62-71

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of MLP Academics Heidelberg (0-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Oettinger Rockets Gotha (1-0) 71-62. Oettinger Rockets Gotha looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Carlton Guyton (193-90, college: Kent St.) fired 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. Naturalized American guard Max Dileo (185-93, college: Monmouth) chipped in 8 points and 4 assists. The former international Johannes Lischka (203-87) produced 9 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Bryan Smithson (183-85, college: NC-Asheville) added 8 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oettinger Rockets Gotha is looking forward to face White Wings in Hanau in the next round which should be an easy win for them. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play on the road against ETB Wohnbau in Essen and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
