We should mention about the upset which took place in Chemnitz, where ChemCats Chemnitz (0-2) was outleveled at home by Herner TC (1-1) 83-63 on Friday. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-63. The former international point guard Lea Mersch (170-87) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Sonja Greinacher (188-92, college: Gonzaga) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Herner TC players scored in double figures. Herner TC's coach Marek Piotrowski used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Sara Halasz (180-90, college: N.Mexico) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and her fellow American import forward Madi Buck (183, college: N.Dakota) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Herner TC will meet at home Osnabruck in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ChemCats Chemnitz will play against TSV 1880 Wasserburg and hope to win that game.
