Regular Season Round 3: Lietkabelis - Lietuvos rytas 67-91

The game in Panevezys supposed to be quite interesting. Lietuvos rytas (2-0) played at the court of Lietkabelis (0-2). Lietuvos rytas smashed Lietkabelis 91-67 on Sunday. Lietuvos rytas shot 62.7 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. Lietuvos rytas looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Lietkabelis' players. It was a good game for international swingman Gediminas Orelikas (199-90) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Antanas Kavaliauskas (208-84, college: Texas A&M, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 19 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Lietuvos rytas players scored in double figures. Lietuvos rytas' coach Marcelo Nicola felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Arturas Valeika (207-85, college: Midland CC) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Brandon Wood (187-89, college: Michigan St.) added 17 points and 6 assists in the effort for Lietkabelis. Lietuvos rytas is looking forward to face P.Zvaigzdes (#3) in Pasvalys in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Lietkabelis will play on the road against Nevezis (#9) in Kedainiai and hopes to get finally their first victory.
