Regular Season Round 5: UBSC Graz - Wels 71-101

Raiffeisen Wels can celebrate their first win this season after four consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Graz, where they outplayed UBSC Graz (2-3) 101-71. The game without a history. Raiffeisen Wels led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to UBSC Graz's 30. Raiffeisen Wels forced 20 UBSC Graz turnovers and outrebounded them 34-19 including 24 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Raiffeisen Wels players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by UBSC Graz's players. American guard Devante Wallace (196-92, college: High Point) nailed 31 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winning side and the former international Davor Lamesic (205-83, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Raiffeisen Wels players scored in double figures. Slovenian guard Jure Pelko (190-90) came up with 38 points (!!!) and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Lithuanian center Povilas Gaidys (208-91, college: Southeastern) added 10 points respectively for UBSC Graz in the defeat. UBSC Graz's coach Peter Stahl gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Raiffeisen Wels (1-4) left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with Klosterneuburg and Gmunden. UBSC Graz at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Raiffeisen Wels' next round opponent will be higher ranked Redwell Gunners Oberwart (#4) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
