There was no surprise in Marijampole where 7th ranked Zalgiris II (2-2) was defeated by top-ranked Suduva-Mantinga (4-0) 90-79 on Saturday. Zalgiris II was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 32-15 charge of Suduva-Mantinga, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Zalgiris II's 40 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Suduva-Mantinga forced 23 Zalgiris II turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Aurimas Kieza (202-82, college: Hofstra) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Gintautas Matulis (195-86) who added 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side swingman Martynas Varnas (196-97) responded with 22 points and 5 assists and center Martynas Sajus (207-96) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Suduva-Mantinga have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Mazeikiai. Loser Zalgiris II dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with Nafta-Uni. and Telsiai. Suduva-Mantinga will meet Telsiai (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Zalgiris II will play against the league's leader Mazeikiai and hope to secure a win.
