Regular Season Round 5: Gussing - Furstenfeld 90-67

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Gussing. Leader Gussing Knights faced 3rd placed Furstenfeld Panthers. Host Gussing Knights (5-0) smashed guests from Furstenfeld (3-2) 90-67. The game without a history. Gussing Knights led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Furstenfeld Panthers' 28. They outrebounded Furstenfeld Panthers 29-17 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Gussing Knights especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American forward Jerrell Wright (203, college: La Salle) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. International point guard Thomas Klepeisz (185-91, agency: HMS) contributed with 15 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Gussing Knights players scored in double figures. Gussing Knights' coach Matthias Zollner felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Slovenian forward Dejan Cigoja (205-88) answered with 12 points and 5 assists and American power forward Gary Ware (205-83, college: Purdue, agency: Interperformances) added 14 points in the effort for Furstenfeld Panthers. Gussing Knights have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 5-0 record. Furstenfeld Panthers at the other side keep the third position with two games lost. They share it with Oberwart and Vienna. Gussing Knights will play against Arkadia Lions (#6) in Traiskirchen in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Furstenfeld Panthers will play at home against the league's second-placed Kapfenberg Bulls and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
