Regular Season Round 4: Donau-Ries - Herner 62-78

The most shocking disappointment of round 4 was a home defeat of 5th ranked TH Wohnbau Angels (2-2) by sixth ranked Herner TC (3-1) who outscored them by 16 points 78-62. It ended the two-game winning streak of TH Wohnbau Angels. The game was mostly controlled by Herner TC. TH Wohnbau Angels managed to win fourth quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Herner TC looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Sonja Greinacher (188-92, college: Gonzaga) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists and international swingman Ireti Amojo (176-90, college: Washington St.) who added 22 points during the contest. Four Herner TC players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Sidney Parsons (168-87, college: Bridgeport) responded with 11 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Heidi Schlegel (183, college: Youngstown St.) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Herner TC have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Marburg and BG 89 Avides. TH Wohnbau Angels at the other side dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with Saarlouis and Freiburg. Herner TC is looking forward to face Rotenburg/Scheessel (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. TH Wohnbau Angels will play against the league's second-placed TSV 1880 Wasserburg and are hoping to win this game.
