Regular Season Round 6: Silute - Vytis 71-72

Important game to mention about took place in Silute. Ninth ranked Vytis (3-3) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Silute (3-3) 72-71 in the game for the fifth place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-18. But Silute won second period 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vytis forced 20 Silute turnovers. Strangely Silute outrebounded Vytis 41-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. Guard Dovydas Redikas (192-92) notched 24 points to lead the effort and forward Karolis Brusokas (200-91) supported him with 6 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Vytis' coach Nerijus Zabarauskas allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 16 points and 7 rebounds by forward Edvinas Alunderis (202-92) did not help to save the game for Silute. Swingman Tomas Lekunas (201-93) added 15 points and 7 rebounds. Vytis have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Silute. Silute lost third consecutive game. Vytis will play against higher ranked Telsiai (#4) in Telsiu in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Silute will play at home against Delikatesas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
