Nevsehir GHSIM was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Mersin 67-59 on Saturday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Nevsehir GHSIM won third quarter 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Mersin Basketbal won last quarter 17-11. Mersin Basketbal outrebounded Nevsehir GHSIM 46-26 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Nigerian-American center Aisha Mohammed (191-85, college: Virginia) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Forward Harika Eldas (182-90) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Sandora Irvin (191-82, college: TCU) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Esen Ozdemir (-89) added 10 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Mersin Basketbal will face Bursa BSB at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nevsehir GHSIM will play against Cankaya in Ankara and hope to win that game.
