Regular Season Round 6: Lietkabelis-2 - Zalgiris II 65-73

There was no surprise in Panevezys where 14th ranked Lietkabelis-2 (1-5) was defeated by eighth ranked Zalgiris II (3-3) 73-65. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lietkabelis-2 won third quarter 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zalgiris II dominated on the defensive end, holding Lietkabelis-2 to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Lietkabelis-2 36-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. Power forward Regimantas Miniotas (206-96) notched a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Paulius Valinskas (190-95) supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Even 15 points by center Tomas Rimsa (208-96) did not help to save the game for Lietkabelis-2. Guard Audrius Stasaitis (192-81) added 12 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Zalgiris II moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Lietkabelis-2 lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with five games lost. They share it with Ezerunas-Karys. Zalgiris II will play against Perlas-MRU (#9) in Vilnius in the next round. Lietkabelis-2 will play at home against Petrochema (#8) to get more than just one victory in their record.
