Regular Season Round 1: NSA Delta - Neftochimic 44-102

Another interesting game for Neftochimic (1-0) which played in Sofia against NSA Delta (0-1). Neftochimic crushed hosts 102-44. The game without a history. Neftochimic led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding NSA Delta to just 5 points in first quarter. Neftochimic dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to NSA Delta's 26 and made 16-of-16 charity shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Neftochimic forced 23 NSA Delta turnovers and outrebounded them 45-31 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Neftochimic players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by NSA Delta's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 11 blocks. The former international forward Maria Zhelyazkova (182-86, agency: Promotex) stepped up and scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and Ukrainian guard Olena Samburska (173-89) chipped in 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Neftochimic players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Mirena Dencheva (185-91) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Maria Svetoslavova (179-93) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. NSA Delta's coach Tsanko Tsankov gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Neftochimic will play against Montana 2003 on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. NSA Delta will play against Beroe in Stara Zagora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
