Regular Season Round 1: Fenerbahce - Edirne 81-60

Fenerbahce used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Edirne 81-60 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Fenerbahce. Edirne was better in second period 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Edirne's 32. They outrebounded Edirne 44-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. Fenerbahce looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American center Jantel Lavender (191-88, college: Ohio St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Hungarian-American guard Allie Quigley (178-86, college: De Paul) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side American center Stefanie Dolson (196-92, college: Connecticut) responded with 25 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and Serbian Nevena Jovanovic (182-90) scored 9 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fenerbahce will face Mersin on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Edirne will play against Istanbul Uni and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
