Abdullah Gul edged Mersin in Kayseri 76-73. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Mersin won fourth quarter 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Abdullah Gul dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Mersin's 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American center Janel McCarville (188-82, college: Minnesota, agency: Josep and Nicolas) stepped up and scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Greek forward Zoi Dimitrakou (188-87, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 18 points. Abdullah Gul's coach Ayhan Avci used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Russian center Marina Kuzina (195-85, agency: IPSA) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Bria Hartley (173-92, college: Connecticut) scored 24 points. Mersin will play next round against strong Fenerbahce trying to get on the winning streak. Abdullah Gul will try to continue on its current victory against Botas in Adana.
