Regular Season Round 6: Juventus - Zalgiris 65-83

An interesting game for Zalgiris (5-0) which played road game in Utena against 4th ranked Juventus (2-3). Top-ranked Zalgiris had an easy win 83-65. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-65. Zalgiris dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Juventus' 30 and made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Juventus 37-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Juventus helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Greek power forward Ian Vougioukas (212-85, college: St.Louis) who led his team to a victory with 15 points. The former international Renaldas Seibutis (196-85) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Naturalized Swiss guard Rolandas Alijevas (192-85, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) replied with 12 points and 5 assists and forward Edgaras Zelionis (201-89) added 14 points in the effort for Juventus. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Lietuvos rytas. Juventus at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Zalgiris is looking forward to face league's leader Lietuvos rytas in Vilnius in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Juventus will play at home against Vytautas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
