Regular Season Round 7: Gussing - Kapfenberg 78-68

The game between Top Four teams took place in Gussing. Leader host Gussing Knights (7-0) defeated 4th placed Kapfenberg Bulls (4-3) 78-68. The game was mostly controlled by Gussing Knights. Kapfenberg Bulls was better in second period 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gussing Knights dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Kapfenberg Bulls' 22. It was an exceptional evening for international point guard Thomas Klepeisz (185-91, agency: HMS) who led the winners and scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American-Ivorian forward Dane Watts (203-86) accounted for 15 points for the winning side. Five Gussing Knights players scored in double figures. Gussing Knights' coach Matthias Zollner allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. International forward Joe Dean Shaw (199-87, college: Nevada) came up with 27 points and 7 rebounds and Croatian power forward Milan Stegnjaic (204-81) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Kapfenberg Bulls in the defeat. Gussing Knights have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 7-0 record. Kapfenberg Bulls lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with three games lost. Gussing Knights will play against Dukes (#6) in Klosterneuburg in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kapfenberg Bulls will play at home against UBSC Graz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
