Regular Season Round 2: Chaika - HAI 81-64

An exciting game was played in Berdiansk. Chaika faced HAI. Host Chaika (1-0) defeated guests from Kharkov (0-1) 81-64. It looked good early as HAI took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Chaika had a 21-15 second period charge getting the lead and HAI was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-81. Chaika players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The former international swingman Iryna Tsekova (177-78) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 assists to lead the effort and center Olga Yatskovets (183-97) supported her with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Even 14 points and 8 rebounds by point guard Nataliya Pokrovenko (173-93) did not help to save the game for HAI. Center Viktoria Lozgachova (181-85) added 6 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. HAI's coach rotated eighteen players seeing no chance for a win. Chaika's next round opponent will be Kondicioner (#4) in Kharkov.
