Regular Season Round 4: Lemvig - Horsholm 71-77

The most important game in the last round took place in Lemvig between second ranked Lemvig (2-2) and fifth ranked Horsholm (2-1) on Saturday night. Lemvig was defeated by Horsholm in a tough game at home 71-77. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-16. But Lemvig won second period 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian forward Ivana Jovanovic (185-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Sara Pedersen (172-95) contributed with 10 points for the winners. Horsholm's coach Jose Vazquez used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Tori Waldner (196-93, college: Penn St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Gillian Abshire (175-93, college: Quinnipiac) added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Lemvig. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Virum and Stevnsgade. Lemvig at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Horsholm is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Aabyhoj (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Lemvig will play against Virum and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
