Regular Season Round 3: Sporting - Benfica 56-76

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Lisboa: Benfica (#1) and Sporting (#8). Sporting was crushed at home by 20 points 56-76 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Benfica outrebounded Sporting 39-22 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Callan Taylor (182-90, college: Sacred Heart) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Center Brigitta Cismasiu (190-92) accounted for 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Power forward Telma Fernandes (180-91) came up with 20 points and Senegalese center Bineta Ndoye (196-93, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Sporting in the defeat. Four Sporting players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Benfica will play against GDESSA in Barreiro in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sporting will play at home against Lombos Quinta (#10) to get more than just one victory in their record.
