There was no surprise when Edirne (0-2) was defeated at home by Istanbul Uni (2-0) 73-66 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-66. The best player for the winners was American power forward Elizabeth Williams (190-93, college: Duke) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import point guard Tan White (170-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American point guard Ivory Latta (168-84, college: N.Carolina) produced 22 points and 4 assists and Serbian Nevena Jovanovic (182-90) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Edirne players scored in double figures. Istanbul Uni will face Orduspor (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Edirne will play against Mersin and hope to win that game.
