Osmaniye used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Mersin 78-51 on Saturday night. The game without a history. Osmaniye led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Mersin Uni to just 6 points in second quarter. Osmaniye forced 23 Mersin Uni turnovers and outrebounded them 38-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Kubra Erat (169-95) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Betul Pehlivan (178-88) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Gizem Kumandanoglu (-94) replied with 14 points and 5 assists and American power forward Nicole Jones (188-89, college: Drexel) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Mersin Uni. Osmaniye will face TED Ankara (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Mersin Uni will play against Bursa BSB and hope to win that game.
