Regular Season Round 4: Gaz Metan - Pitesti 92-114

9th ranked Gaz Metan (1-3) was outscored at home by fourth ranked Pitesti (3-1) with the biggest margin this round 114-92 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Pitesti. Gaz Metan was better in second period 30-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pitesti dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Gaz Metan's 40. Strangely Gaz Metan outrebounded Pitesti 44-31 including 28 on the offensive glass. At the losing side Belarusian-Russian Aliaksandr Pustahvar (202-85) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and Lithuanian center Robertas Grabauskas (208-90, college: Northwood) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Five Pitesti and four Gaz Metan players scored in double figures. Pitesti have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 5 other teams. Gaz Metan at the other side dropped to the eighth place with three games lost. Pitesti will face CSU Sibiu (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gaz Metan will play against Craiova and hope to win that game.
