Regular Season Round 9: Oberwart - Kapfenberg 96-93

A very close game took place in Oberwart between Redwell Gunners Oberwart and Kapfenberg Bulls. Fourth ranked Redwell Gunners Oberwart (6-3) got a very close home victory over 3rd placed Kapfenberg Bulls (5-4). Redwell Gunners Oberwart managed to escape with a 3-point win 96-93 in the fight for the third place. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. American players dominated the game. Point guard Derek Jackson (185-91, college: Kent St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) nailed 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and forward Chris Ferguson (206-89, college: Mid-Continent, agency: HMS) accounted for 16 points and 13 rebounds. Redwell Gunners Oberwart's coach Chris Chougaz used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Swingman Shawn Ray (194-80, college: N.C.Central) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and guard Mike Holton Jr. (185-90, college: St.Michael's) added 25 points respectively for Kapfenberg Bulls in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Redwell Gunners Oberwart moved-up to third place. Loser Kapfenberg Bulls dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Redwell Gunners Oberwart will meet at home UBSC Graz (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kapfenberg Bulls will play against Gmunden Swans (#9) in Gmunden and hope to secure a win.
