Regular Season Round 9: Gmunden - Furstenfeld 68-71

Ninth-ranked Gmunden Swans (2-7) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (7-2) on Monday. The visitors from Furstenfeld managed to secure only three-point victory 71-68. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 24-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for Croatian Marko Car (188-85) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 8 assists. Forward Toni Blazan (195-92) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized German power forward Tilo Klette (206-77) answered with 11 points and 5 rebounds and international point guard Daniel Friedrich (181-92) added 10 points and 5 assists in the effort for Gmunden Swans. Four Gmunden Swans players scored in double figures. Gmunden Swans' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Furstenfeld Panthers have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 7-2 record having just two points less than leader Gussing. Gmunden Swans at the other side keep the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Wels. Furstenfeld Panthers are looking forward to face Arkadia Lions (#7) in Traiskirchen in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gmunden Swans will play at home against Kapfenberg Bulls and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
