Regular Season Round 4: Mykolaiv - SC Kryvbas 74-64

Very important is a road loss of second ranked SC Kryvbas (3-2) against fifth ranked Mykolaiv (3-2) on Friday night. Visiting SC Kryvbas were defeated by Mykolaiv in Mykolaiv 74-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of SC Kryvbas. It looked good early as SC Kryvbas took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Mykolaiv had a 25-11 second period charge getting the lead and SC Kryvbas were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-74. Mykolaiv made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game, while SC Kryvbas only scored four points from the stripe. Mykolaiv had a 37-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. SC Kryvbas were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by point guard Vladyslav Tonchenko (185-89) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists and guard Oleksandr Shostuha (193-84) supported him with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Mykolaiv players scored in double figures. Even 16 points and 7 rebounds by international swingman Dmytro Gliebov (198-88, agency: Beo Basket) did not help to save the game for SC Kryvbas. Dmitriy Lypovtsev added 10 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. SC Kryvbas' coach Valeriy Plehanov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mykolaiv moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated SC Kryvbas. Mykolaiv will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. SC Kryvbas will play on the road against Infiz Basket in Kyiv and hope to get back on the winning track.
