Regular Season Round 8: Neptunas - Lietuvos rytas 62-72

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Klaipeda. Second ranked Lietuvos rytas faced 4th ranked Neptunas. Guests from Vilnius (6-1) defeated host Neptunas (3-4) 72-62. It looked good early as Neptunas took a 12-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Lietuvos rytas took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 10 points. Neptunas was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Argentinian point guard Nicolas Laprovittola (193-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. International Rokas Giedraitis (198-92) contributed with 20 points for the winners. American Daniel Ewing (191-83, college: Duke) replied with 13 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import power forward Jerai Grant (203-89, college: Clemson) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Neptunas. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lietuvos rytas maintains second position with 6-1 record behind leader Zalgiris, which they share with Vytautas. Neptunas at the other side dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. Lietuvos rytas will play against Vytautas (#3) in Prienai in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Neptunas will play on the road against Siauliai and hopes to get back on the winning track.
