Regular Season Round 5: Virum - Lemvig 66-67

A very close game took place in Virum between Lemvig and Virum. Fifth ranked Lemvig (3-2) got a very close victory on the road over 4th placed Virum (2-2). Lemvig managed to escape with a 1-point win 67-66 on Saturday evening. Virum was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 17-12 charge of Lemvig, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Virum outrebounded Lemvig 49-37 including 19 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was FYR Macedonian point guard Ivana Udovalieva (174-84) who scored 27 points. American forward Kaitlyn Mathieu (188-92, college: William & Mary) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Melissa Gilkey (185-92, college: Wash.-St.Louis) produced a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and the other American import center Val Driscoll (193-92, college: Quinnipiac) added 11 points and 20 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Lemvig moved-up to third place, which they share with SISU. Newly promoted Virum dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Lemvig will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Virum will play against Aabyhoj (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
