Regular Season Round 3: Bursa BSB - Mersin Univ. 51-60

There was no surprise when Bursa BSB (0-3) was defeated at home by Mersin Uni (2-1) 60-51 on Saturday. Mersin Uni dominated on the defensive end, holding Bursa BSB to just 6 points in second quarter. They also forced 21 Bursa BSB turnovers. It was a great evening for Ukrainian center Olena Staschuk (192-85) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 19 rebounds. Gizem Kumandanoglu (-94) helped adding 10 points and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American-Azerbaijani center Marcedes Marie Walker (191-86, college: Pittsburgh) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 21 rebounds and Gulay Gul (-93) scored 5 points and 13 rebounds. Bursa BSB's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mersin Uni will face TED Ankara at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bursa BSB will play against Cankaya (#9) in Ankara and hopes to get finally their first victory.
