Regular Season Round 4: Darussafaka - TED Kolejliler 82-69
Date: November 2, 2015
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Istanbul where 12th ranked TED Kolejliler (1-3) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Darussafaka (2-3) 82-69 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Darussafaka. TED Kolejliler was better in second period 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Darussafaka dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to TED Kolejliler's 28. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Reggie Redding (196-88, college: Villanova) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 7 assists and the former international power forward Semih Erden (211-86) who added 15 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) during the contest. Four Darussafaka players scored in double figures. Darussafaka's coach Oktay Mahmudi used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Croatian guard Marko Tomas (201-85) responded with 20 points and U.S. Virgin Islands-Guyanese center Frank Elegar (208-86, college: Drexel) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Darussafaka moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Royal Hali. Loser TED Kolejliler dropped to the thirteenth position with three games lost. Darussafaka will face higher ranked Yesilgiresun (#6) in Giresun in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. TED Kolejliler will play at home against Torku Konyaspor (#5) and hope to win that game.
