Regular Season Round 5: Dynamo - SC Kryvbas 65-73

Dynamo (3-1) recorded its first loss in Kyiv on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked SC Kryvbas (5-2) 73-65. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Dynamo won third quarter 21-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was the former international center Maxim Ivshyn (209-86, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. International swingman Dmytro Gliebov (198-88, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. SC Kryvbas' coach Valeriy Plehanov used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international Artur Drozdov (199-80, agency: Comsport) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists and American guard Kenney Funderburk (193, college: Columbus St.) added 23 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Newly promoted SC Kryvbas maintains second place with 5-2 record behind leader Khimik. Dynamo at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the third position with one game lost. SC Kryvbas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dynamo will play on the road against Bipa Basket in Odessa and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
