Regular Season Round 9: Silute - Zalgiris II 80-58

An interesting game took place in Silute where higher ranked Zalgiris II (5-4) was upset on the court of ninth ranked Silute (4-5) 80-58 on Friday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Zalgiris II. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-58. Silute forced 22 Zalgiris II turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by Zalgiris II's players. Swingman Tomas Lekunas (201-93) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and Deividas Kumelis (188-95) chipped in 16 points and 9 assists. Four Silute players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was power forward Laurynas Birutis (210-97) with 11 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Martynas Varnas (196-97) scored 12 points. Zalgiris II's coach Tomas Masiulis gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Silute moved-up to eighth place. Loser Zalgiris II dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Silute will face higher ranked Palanga (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
