Regular Season Round 6: Stevnsgade - Horsholm 73-71

Round 6 in Dameligaen means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Stevnsgade where host Stevnsgade (4-1) edged league's leader Horsholm (3-2) 73-71 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Horsholm. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Horsholm was trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 16-12 charge of Stevnsgade, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 20 Horsholm turnovers. Strangely Horsholm outrebounded Stevnsgade 45-24 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was international guard Hanna Sheikh (180-92) who scored 18 points. Forward Alberte Dokkedal (180-91) chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian forward Ivana Jovanovic (185-85) who recorded 15 points and 7 rebounds and forward Line Piechnik (171-90) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Stevnsgade have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Defending champion Horsholm dropped to the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Virum and Lemvig. They were replaced at the leadership position by Stevnsgade. Horsholm will play next round against SISU trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Stevnsgade will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Lemvig on the road.
