Very expected game in Leverkusen where 13th ranked Bayer Giants (2-6) were rolled over by seventh ranked Kirchheim Knights (5-3) 79-53 on Friday. The game without a history. Kirchheim Knights led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Bayer Giants to just 6 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Bayer Giants 45-32 including a 45-32 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Dennis Tinnon (203-88, college: Marshall) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Johannes Joos (204-95) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Four Kirchheim Knights players scored in double figures. American swingman Ricky Kreklow (201-92, college: Creighton) produced 14 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Drew Brandon (193-92, college: E.Washington) added 4 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Bayer Giants' coach Achim Kuczmann gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Kirchheim Knights moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Koeln Rh.Stars and Hamburg. Loser Bayer Giants keep the thirteenth position with six games lost. Kirchheim Knights will face Koeln Rh.Stars (#6) on the road in the next round. Bayer Giants will play against ETB Wohnbau (#14) in Essen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
