Regular Season Round 7: Giessen 46ers - Bremerhaven 82-67
Date: November 7, 2015
Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (1-6) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Giessen 46ers (3-4) 82-67. The game was mostly controlled by Giessen 46ers. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven was better in second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Giessen 46ers made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Eisbaeren Bremerhaven turnovers. Strangely Eisbaeren Bremerhaven outrebounded Giessen 46ers 39-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Eisbaeren Bremerhaven helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of international Karsten Tadda (190-88) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Nigerian-American power forward Suleiman Braimoh (203-89, college: Rice) contributed with 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St., agency: Inception Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and naturalized American center Waverly Austin (211-91, college: Oregon) added 10 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Eisbaeren Bremerhaven. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Giessen 46ers moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Braunschweig and Phoenix Hagen. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with six games lost. Giessen 46ers' next round opponent will be ratiopharm Ulm (#15) at home which should be theoretically an easy game. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven will play against s Oliver Baskets in Wuerzburg and hope to win that game.
