Regular Season Round 9: Siauliai - Neptunas 68-75

Very expected game when 9th ranked Siauliai (2-6) lost at home to fifth ranked Neptunas (4-4) 75-68. It looked good early as Siauliai took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Neptunas had a 16-10 second period charge getting the lead and Siauliai was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-75. International guard Mindaugas Girdziunas (188-89) stepped up and scored 18 points for the winners and forward Donatas Zavackas (203-80, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Neptunas players scored in double figures. Neptunas' coach Dainius Adomaitis allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Arturas Jomantas (200-85) with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Egyptian forward Assem Marei (206-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Neptunas maintains fifth place with 4-4 record. Siauliai at the other side dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Nevezis. Neptunas will play against P.Zvaigzdes (#7) in Pasvalys in the next round. Siauliai will play at home against Lietkabelis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
