TED Ankara (3-1) recorded its first loss on the court of seventh ranked Mersin Uni on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Mersin Uni 75-69. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of TED Ankara. It was a key game for the second position in Group B. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But TED Ankara won third quarter 24-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Mersin Uni won last quarter 17-12. They dominated down low during the game scoring 36 of its points in the paint compared to TED Ankara's 12 and made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Ukrainian center Olena Staschuk (192-85) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Gizem Kumandanoglu (-94) chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Mersin Uni players scored in double figures. Center Derin Yaya (174-97) produced 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Burcin Peksenel (-94) added 23 points respectively for lost side. Mersin Uni moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated TED Ankara. Mersin Uni is looking forward to face Urla BLD (#8) in Izmir in the next round where they are favorite. TED Ankara will play on the road against Bursa BSB and is hoping to win this game.
