Regular Season Round 5: LDUFK-Skif - Politekhnika 86-67

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 4th placed Politekhnika's (0-3) road loss to third ranked LDUFK-Skif (1-1) 67-86 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-67. LDUFK-Skif dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Politekhnika's 38. LDUFK-Skif forced 28 Politekhnika turnovers. The best player for the winners was center Kateryna Skakalina (185-97) who scored 33 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Oksana Prutyliak (168-93) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Viktoriya Babych (183-99) produced 27 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks and point guard Irina Maksimenko (168-97) added 18 points respectively for the guests. LDUFK-Skif maintains third place in League with 1-1 record having just three points less than leader Dynamo-NPU. Loser Politekhnika still closes the standings with three games lost. LDUFK-Skif will face league's second-placed Frankivsk in Ivano-Frankivsk in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Politekhnika will play at home against the league's second-placed Frankivsk and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
