Regular Season Round 5: Trabzonspor - Besiktas 96-99

Bottom-ranked Trabzonspor (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 99-96 loss to ninth ranked Besiktas (3-2) in Trabzon on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Trabzonspor won fourth quarter 24-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Besiktas looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Nate Wolters (193-91, college: S.Dakota St.) who scored 18 points and 9 assists. His fellow American import DJ Seeley (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). American guard Tarence Kinsey (200-84, college: S.Carolina) produced 30 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and Croatian-Bosnian center Andrija Stipanovic (209-86, agency: Beo Basket) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. They have a solid series of three victories in a row. Besiktas moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Fener.Ulker and Galatasaray. Loser Trabzonspor still closes the standings with five games lost. Besiktas will face higher ranked Anadolu Efes (#4) in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Trabzonspor will play on the road against Turk Telekom (#13) in Ankara and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
