Regular Season Round 9: Lietuvos rytas - Vytautas 81-74

An interesting game for Lietuvos rytas (7-1) which hosted in Vilnius 3rd placed Vytautas (6-2). Second ranked Lietuvos rytas managed to get a 7-point victory 81-74. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Vytautas. Vytautas trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 21-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 74-81 at the end of the game. It was a good game for the former international center Ksistof Lavrinovic (209-79) who led his team to a victory with 13 points and 8 rebounds. International swingman Gediminas Orelikas (199-90) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Lietuvos rytas' coach Marcelo Nicola used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International point guard Sarunas Vasiliauskas (187-89) answered with 27 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and guard Vytautas Sulskis (200-88, college: Youngstown St., agency: Octagon Europe) added 10 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Vytautas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lietuvos rytas maintains second place with 7-1 record behind leader Zalgiris. Vytautas at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. Lietuvos rytas are looking forward to face Siauliai (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vytautas will play against Nevezis (#8) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
