There was no surprise in Ankara where bottom-ranked Bursa BSB (0-4) was defeated by ninth ranked Cankaya (2-2) 83-79 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 20-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 15-11. Cankaya made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Bursa BSB was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Burcu Tasbas (178-89) fired a triple-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists (made all of her ten free throws !!!) for the winners. Hande Celebi (-90) chipped in 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Cankaya players scored in double figures. American-Azerbaijani center Marcedes Marie Walker (191-86, college: Pittsburgh) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and Gulay Gul (-93) added 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Bursa BSB's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Cankaya moved-up to seventh place in Group B, which they share with Urla BLD. Loser Bursa BSB still closes the standings with four games lost. Cankaya will face Bakospor (#10) in Gaziantep in the next round. Bursa BSB will play at home against TED Ankara and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
