Regular Season Round 9: Juventus - Lietkabelis 80-63

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Juventus (5-4) beat 6th ranked Lietkabelis (2-5) in Utena 80-63. It looked good early as Lietkabelis took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Juventus had a 24-19 second period charge getting the lead and Lietkabelis was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 63-80. Juventus players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Lietkabelis' players. International power forward Egidijus Dimsa (204-85) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and forward Edgaras Zelionis (201-89) chipped in 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Juventus players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Arturas Valeika (207-85, college: Midland CC) with 15 points and American guard Brandon Wood (187-89, college: Michigan St.) scored 13 points. Lietkabelis' coach Gintaras Kadziulis rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Juventus maintains fourth place with 5-4 record. Lietkabelis at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with P.Zvaigzdes. Juventus will play against bottom-ranked Dzukija (#10) in Alytus in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Lietkabelis will play on the road against Siauliai (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
